The Geissele Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring and Buffer Combo is a premium reliability upgrade for AR-15 platforms, engineered to improve cycling performance, reduce wear, and eliminate unwanted spring noise. Available in H1, H2, and H3 buffer weights, this system allows shooters to fine-tune their rifle for optimal performance across various configurations.

At the core of the system is the Super 42 braided wire spring, constructed using three independent strands of wire inspired by the German MG42 machine gun. This design acts as a harmonic damper, absorbing excess energy and reducing stress on internal components. The result is a smoother cycling rifle with increased reliability and longer spring life.

Compared to standard buffer springs, the Super 42 provides approximately 15% greater return force, improving feeding reliability—especially in dirty conditions or when using steel-case ammunition. It also significantly reduces the “twang” commonly felt and heard through the buffer tube.

Each Super 42 spring is specifically designed to work with its included Geissele buffer. The system must be used as a complete set to ensure proper function and prevent damage.

H1, H2, H3 Options:

  • H1: Ideal for standard carbine setups
  • H2: Balanced option for mid-length gas systems or increased reliability
  • H3: Best for suppressed rifles or overgassed systems

Key Features:

  • Braided 3-wire spring design for improved durability and reliability
  • Reduces recoil impulse and internal wear
  • Eliminates buffer spring “twang”
  • ~15% stronger return force than standard springs
  • Improves feeding reliability in adverse conditions
  • Includes matched Geissele buffer (H1, H2, or H3)
  • Designed for carbine-length buffer tubes
  • Made in the USA

Compatibility Notes:

  • For use with carbine-length buffer tubes only
  • Not compatible with rifle-length or A5 systems
  • Not recommended for .300 Blackout subsonic setups
  • Must be used with included Geissele buffer (not compatible with standard buffers)
